Dear McDonalds: your ads are annoying

I’ll get to McDonald’s in a minute, but to start: Today Prof. Parham talked about her accent and how she mutes it during lectures as an example of conforming to the expectations of intellectual form. I understand the point that intelligence and educability are associated with the performance of a certain kind of discourse, the antithesis of which are regional dialects/accents, which are heard or “read” as uneducated, and not belonging in an academic setting, and therefore incapable of carrying meaningful information or teaching others.
